Remember when y’all were tumbling about National Novel Writing Month and how you were all going to write novels? Did anyone actually write a novel or did you just write about writing a novel to sound cool on your tumblr? If you did write a novel, can I read it?

Let me tell you, this woman can fucking write.

I’m currently reading this book for a Counseling class I’m taking. This book is really great. It’s an easy read, not long at all, and full of excellent tools. This isn’t a book ground in psychoanalytical thought and theory, but a more clear, practical guide for helping in everyday life. It gives examples of how to effectively help and react to people who are in your direct...
I woke up early today to start the day off right by making an eggwich. It wasn’t as good as Spencer’s but it was close and it’s hard to imagine how I could be unhappy at all today after a breakfast this good.
I’m saving every penny I make so I can just take the whole summer off. Fuck these kids.
Spent the evening arranging Mountain Goats on the piano and singing along. I’ve got “This Year” down pat and made some progress on “Dance Music” and “No Children.” What better joy while alone than an instrument and your voice?
South Central Scholars
vol-la:
A few weeks ago we received an email from our friends at South Central Scholars (SCS), sharing the news that one of their students had recently been accepted to Harvard Medical School, his 9th medical school acceptance so far. An amazing achievement in itself, but even more inspiring considering the obstacles he’s overcome. As a South Central Scholar, he is one of approximately 400...
Whenever I am into a really good novel I do something strange. I get so absorbed in it that it takes over my mind and I create this narration in my head of my own movements in the style of the author of the book I am reading. Right now I am reading for the first time a murder/rape/disappearance novel (In The Woods) and I really wish I could shut off the voice in my head clocking my movements in...
So THIS happened tonight. Wow.
a story for the girls back home.
One day in High School Ames and I got stoned and started talking about people jumping out of moving vehicles in movies which led to the brilliant idea that we should jump out of her car and then just hop right back in it before it crashes. You know, because jumping out of a moving vehicle, landing on your feet and getting back in is no big deal. We drove her car to a secluded area and started...
Garden of Eden.
I want to live in a Northern seaside village where the sky is an almost constant moody blue with the occasional scattered ray of light that strikes down violently to illuminate a rooftop here, the mast of a sailboat there. Where the ocean is to the West and the tallest trees you will ever see to the East. Forests scattered with neon green moss and clovers to contrast the brown, towering giants and...
My lova Dan is my surrogate auditory cortex. He gave me a bunch of albums to take on the beautiful (but brutal) twelve hour train ride and they were just what I needed. Such good taste! On another note, I think I live in the wrong city in California.
SPRING BREAK
I still get one of these and it started tonight and it’s AWESOME.
APRIL IS VOLUNTEER MONTH!

vol-la:
A big welcome to Vol-LA from Sherry and Elizabeth. We’ve been living in LA for a while now and noticed that there are a lot of people in this town who would like to volunteer, but probably don’t know where to start. To make matters worse, most volunteer websites are geared towards kids or retirees and our age group is, well, forgotten.
So follow us - there are so many inspiring,...
Mom and sister - The students just threw me a surprise birthday party at SHAKEY’S! How redic is that!?
